CQI-12 – Special Process – Coating System Assessment – Method – #2512
Context
The CQI-12 (Coating System Assessment) is a standard developed by the Automotive Industry Action Group to assess and improve the control of coating processes, in particular surface treatments such as painting, electroplating and functional coatings, which are widely used in the automotive industry.
In accordance with the IATF 16949 standard and within the framework of specific customer requirements, this standard applies to all suppliers in the automotive sector that use coating processes.
The aim of the CQI-12 assessment is to reduce the risk of failure associated with surface treatment processes, to ensure the durability, adhesion and performance of coatings applied to components, and to guarantee their compliance with the quality, safety and performance requirements expected by automotive manufacturers.
This standard is part of a strategy for the continuous improvement of specialised processes. It provides a structured framework enabling organisations to self-assess across several key areas: control of coating processes, equipment compliance, management of critical parameters, staff competence and the effectiveness of control systems.
You wish to familiarise yourself with the requirements and best practices of CQI-12, as well as the self-assessment guidelines, in order to implement improvement measures designed to ensure the quality, durability and performance of the coatings applied to your products.
Objectives
- Understand the customer specific requirements who require the CQI-12.
- Discover the contents of the CQI-12 manual (self-assessment tables, product audit, etc.).
- Identify the key points of the manual.
- Learn how to use the self-assessment questionnaire in the CQI-12 manual through a case study focusing on coating processes and associated technical aspects.
Recommanded for
- Quality Engineers,
- Process/Manufacturing Engineers,
- Internal Auditors,
- Production Supervisors,
- Coating Process Specialists
Specific operating conditions for remote sessions
- Have a PC equipped with a microphone, a webcam and, if possible, a headset for greater comfort. Note: wallpapers are available on Zoom or Teams to hide the background.
- Have a good Internet connection, which should be tested before the session.
- Settle down in a quiet, isolated place; set yourself to “unavailable” status on Teams; close your email access, and mute your phone, so as not to be disturbed during the session.
- Participants from the same organisation should not be grouped together in the same room, but each at their own desk.
- The end-of-course knowledge test must be taken with your webcam and microphone turned on. We may need to verify that you are alone in the room.
- Please sign in 5 minutes before the start of the session.
Prerequisites
- Have the latest edition of the CQI-12 manual as well as the Assessment Workbook (Excel file).
- General awareness of manufacturing or coating processes
Pedagogy
The teaching method alternates between theoretical sequences covering the CQI-12 requirements and practical sequences through a case study focusing on the technical aspects.
Evaluation mode
- Knowledge test (Multi Choice Questions)
Course materials
-
Participant file containing the presentations delivered during the training and the exercise materials.
- Digital training materials are made available to trainees a few days before the start of the training course on our LMS platform.
