CQI-15 – Special Process: Welding Assessment – Method – #2515
Context
CQI-15 (Welding System Assessment) is a standard developed by the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) for assessing and improving the control of welding processes, particularly in the automotive industry. These processes include resistance welding, arc welding, laser welding and other fusion or solid-state joining techniques.
In accordance with IATF 16949 and specific customer requirements, the CQI-15 applies to all automotive sector suppliers that use welding processes in their manufacturing.
The CQI-15 assessment aims to minimize the risk of failure associated with welding processes and ensure the strength, integrity and reliability of welded joints. It also guarantees compliance with the quality, safety and performance requirements expected by automotive manufacturers.
This standard constitutes a strategy for the continuous improvement of special processes. It provides a structured framework that enables companies to carry out self-assessments in several key areas, including control of welding processes, equipment capability and maintenance, management of critical welding parameters, personnel qualification and competence, and the effectiveness of monitoring and inspection systems.
You want to learn about the requirements and best practices of CQI-15, as well as the self-assessment guidelines. This will help you to implement improvements that ensure the quality, robustness, and performance of welded assemblies in your products.
Objectives
- To provide a structured understanding of CQI-15 requirements and assessment methodology
- To enable participants to interpret and apply CQI-15 criteria in welding processes
- To develop the ability to identify nonconformities and gaps in process control
- To support preparation for internal and external CQI-15 assessments
- To strengthen awareness of process control, risk management, and continuous improvement
Recommanded for
- Quality Engineers,
- Process/Manufacturing Engineers or technical experts,
- Internal Auditors,
- Production Supervisors,
- Welding Process Specialists
Prerequisites
- Participant must have CQI-15 handbook 2nd edition standard documentations, as it is not provided during the training
- General awareness of manufacturing or welding processes
Pedagogy
The pedagogical approach is alternating between theoretical sequences on the CQI-15 requirements and application sequences through a case study on the technical aspects.
Evaluation mode
- Knowledge test (Multi Choice Questions)
Course materials
-
Participant file containing the presentations delivered during the training and the exercise materials.
- Digital training materials are made available to trainees a few days before the start of the training course on our LMS platform.
