Context
- CQI-9 (Continuous Quality Improvement – Heat Treat System Assessment) is a standard developed by the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) to evaluate and improve heat treatment systems within the automotive industry.
- In line with IATF 16949 and the need to meet specific customer requirements, this standard applies to all automotive suppliers operating heat treatment processes. The CQI-9 assessment aims to reduce the risk of failure associated with heat treatment processes, ensure the reliability and performance of heat-treated components used in vehicles, and guarantee compliance with the quality, safety and performance requirements expected by automotive manufacturers.
- CQI-9 is part of a continuous quality improvement approach for special processes, providing a structured framework for self-assessment of heat treatment process control, equipment compliance, personnel competence, and the effectiveness of the control systems in place.
- This training course enables participants to understand the requirements and best practices of CQI-9, learn the rules for conducting a self-assessment, and implement improvement actions to ensure the quality and reliability of heat-treated parts.
Objectives
- Understand the requirements of CQI-9.
- Explore the contents of the CQI-9 manual, including self-assessment tables, job audits, and related tools.
- Identify the key points and critical elements within the CQI-9 manual.
- Learn how to use the self-assessment questionnaire provided in the manual through a technical case study.
Recommanded for
- Quality / QHSE managers, engineers and technicians.
- Quality engineers.
- Methods engineers.
- Internal auditors.
- Customer of a supplier subject to CQI-9.
Prerequisites
- Understanding how a heat treatment plant works.
Specific operating conditions for remote sessions
- Have a PC equipped with a microphone, webcam and, if possible, a headset for greater comfort. Note: To blur or hide the view from behind, background screens are available in Zoom or Teams.
- A good Internet connection, tested before the session.
- Locate in a quiet, isolated area; switch to “not available” status in Teams; close your email access and mute your phone to avoid distraction during the session.
- To avoid off-topic discussions during the session, participants from the same organisation should not be grouped together in the same room, but rather at their own desks. Virtual sub-groups will be set up specifically for the exercises, which will also allow for mixed groups to be created.
- The webcam and microphone must be open during remote qualification/certification exams. It may also be necessary for us to check that you are the only one in the room.
- We ask that you connect at least 5 minutes before the beginning of the session.
Pedagogy
- The training alternates between theoretical sessions on CQI-9 requirements and practical application exercises using a technical case study.
Evaluation mode
- Knowledge test (MCQ).
Course materials
-
Participant file containing the presentations delivered during the training and the exercise materials.
