PIC/PDP: Effectively managing your supply chain – #91
Context
- In an increasingly competitive global environment, effective management of the supply chain is a key strategic challenge for industrial companies, and is essential to their performance, growth and long-term viability.
- The PIC (Industrial and Commercial Plan) or S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning), as well as the PDP (Master Production Plan), in the context of MRPII, are key processes for effectively managing operations, securing flows and improving the company’s overall performance.
- This training course will provide you with a clear and coherent understanding of the ICP/PDP process, enabling you to manage it more effectively and improve it in the long term.

- Understand the different planning horizons.
- Understand the strategic role of the PIC and the PDP in managing the supply chain.
- Know how to build, manage and adjust a robust PIC.
- Know how to translate the PIC into a realistic and actionable PDP.
- Master the trade-offs between demand and capacity in relation to stock levels and service levels.
- Improve operational coordination between the different functions within the company.
- Develop the ability to anticipate in order to make the right decisions at the right time and minimise last-minute rush work.

Specific operating conditions for remote sessions
- Have a PC equipped with a microphone, a webcam and, if possible, a headset for greater comfort. Note: wallpapers are available on Zoom or Teams to hide the background.
- Have a good Internet connection, which should be tested before the session.
- Settle down in a quiet, isolated place; set yourself to “unavailable” status on Teams; close your email access, and mute your phone, so as not to be disturbed during the session.
- Participants from the same organisation should not be grouped together in the same room, but each at their own desk.
- The end-of-course knowledge test must be taken with your webcam and microphone turned on. We may need to verify that you are alone in the room.
- Please sign in 5 minutes before the start of the session.
Prerequisites
- Professional experience in an industrial or supply chain environment, involving planning activities.
Pedagogy
Throughout this training course, participants are encouraged to take part in group activities that are directly relevant to their operational concerns. Frequent discussions and the consolidation of work (including following internal implementation) help to ensure that participants fully grasp the concepts, tools and best practices shared. The simplicity and logic of the central theme, used throughout this training course, ensure a genuine understanding of the challenges associated with the effective management of the PIC/PDP.
The teaching approach combines theory and practical application using a case study representative of the challenges associated with the PIC/PDP in an industrial environment.
In an ‘in-house’ setting, the training can be tailored to the specific characteristics, challenges and issues of the company. A follow-up session of 0.5 days may be organised up to three months after the training to review the experience of implementing the management dashboard and the PIC/PDP facilitation procedures.
