The fundamentals of automotive software – #983
Training in partnership with the VDA-QMC
Context
Software is an essential part of today’s vehicles. Like other parts and components, it is therefore subject to high quality requirements. On the one hand, the software manufacturing process is not fundamentally different from other manufacturing processes: products are developed, tested, released and approved on the basis of specific requirements.
However, a closer look reveals significant differences from the hardware manufacturing process. For example, it is easier to set up parallel production stages, changes can be implemented much more quickly and, what’s more, software specialists have developed their own technical terms and agile project management methods.
Objectives
- Understanding the stages in software development.
- Be familiar with the three levels of software testing.
- Know how to manage software projects.

- Know how to include software development in the application of VDA standards such as MLA, VDA 6.3 or ASPICE.
