- When does the 2023 version of VDA 6.3 come into effect? Are there any transition periods?
The new VDA 6.3 comes into effect from January 2023. There is no official transition period. The organisations involved in the audit agree, via the client’s specific requirements, on the version on which the audit is based.
- When must audits in accordance with the 2023 version of VDA 6.3 be carried out?
Companies must determine the timing of the transition themselves; for legal reasons, this timing cannot be set by VDA QMC.
According to the new manual, audits based on the 2023 version may only be carried out after completing the training course ‘VDA 6.3: 2016 to 2023 Qualified Auditor Refresher Course’ – #960.
Proof of successful completion must be provided no later than the renewal of the VDA 6.3 certificate.
- What’s new in the 2023 version of VDA 6.3?
Significant changes have been made, particularly regarding products with embedded software and the strengthening of procurement activities prior to SoP.
In the VDA 6.3 upgrade training, you will gain an overview of the most important changes and be able to put your new knowledge into practice straight away.
In addition, the VDA training course ‘Fundamentals of Automotive Software’ – #933 will enable you to acquire basic knowledge and skills on the subject of ‘software’.
Furthermore, the manual has been updated to reflect the current state of the art and made even more practical (detailed changes to content and wording, and streamlining of content).
- Why have software-related topics been incorporated into VDA 6.3:2023, when Automotive SPICE® already exists?
The interface between hardware and software for software-defined products has been strengthened, but the Automotive SPICE® method must be used for a detailed assessment of software development.
